Sep 26 - Narrow Dynamic Range

I'll be the first to admit that HDR (high dynamic range) photography is easy to overdo (and often is). However, my main goal for the past ten months has been to try and get a spectacular vertical photo for my wall. I tried to capture the Yosemite "Firefall" and mother nature didn't cooperate. I went to Antelope Canyon and couldn't quite decide on one amazing photo that stood out.

So this leads to my return trip to the Zion Narrows. I went solo so that I could stop and shoot whenever I wanted without holding people up. Initially, I wasn't sure the trip was a success, but I'm pleasantly surprised with how these HDRs turned out. Like I said, HDR can be overdone. In fact, these are over the top. But I think their painterly quality is acceptable considering one of these is going on my wall as art.

I'll probably end up dialing it back when it comes to the final edit.

Sep 25 - Pizza And Pinball

We had another "Yelp Geeks Out!" event this weekend. This time, it was at the super-awesome-yet-still-relatively-unknown-gem called the Pinball Hall of Fame. Of the three pizza vendors, it was clear (based on empty boxes) who has the best pizza. Their name starts with Gri and ends with maldi's. Incidentally, have I ever mentioned how much I love the Taito "Ice Cold Beer" game (second photo)?

Sep 22 - League Of Extraordinary Drinkers

As part of "Yelp Geeks Out!" month, about 15 of us gathered downtown to get in touch with our oft ignored and neglected superhero side. Our inner desire to wear spandex had been suppressed for far too long. We participated in a five-hour parade through five downtown bars—Gold Spike, Hennessey's, Insert Coin(s), Vanguard Lounge, and Beauty Bar.

OK, so it was really just an excuse to go drinking. In spandex.

Sep 19 - Robots And Ramen

After the "Geeks Who Drink" trivia event, a few of us went to check out 28GO, a relatively new ramen spot near UNLV. I didn't actually have the ramen, but the sweet chicken curry waffle I had was absolutely delicious! I'd go back for that, though I suppose I should try their ramen.

Sep 15 - Lucid Absinthe

When I found out that Absinthe would be closing in a few days, I figured it was high time that I watched it. To be honest, the show was overhyped for me and I was slightly disappointed, but I still had a great time.

Sep 11 - Lambretta Innocenti

Dean has a pretty neat collection of bikes in his backyard shed. I got up early before we headed to Magic Mountain to snap some shots.

Sep 10 - Shut The Front Door

Don and I took a trip to California to visit Magic Mountain and we stayed with his cousin Dean in Carson. Dean did a great job of building a new house from scratch, including this awesome peephole in his front door.
